Story

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our friend and colleague, Douglas Javier Hernandez, who passed away on May 21, 2025, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Doug was not only a dedicated employee of Evco since October 16, 2017, but a beloved husband, father, and friend. He was 50 years old and is survived by his loving wife, Raquel, and two daughters: Vanessa (23), currently serving in the Signal Corps, and Gabriela (21), who is proudly serving in the Air Force.
In August of 2024, Doug was diagnosed with an aggressive glioblastoma—a devastating form of brain cancer. Despite undergoing months of chemotherapy and enduring four brain surgeries, his condition worsened, and he was placed in home hospice care in January 2025.
Doug had spent years planning a long-awaited family reunion trip to Guatemala for September 2024—his first in over 20 years. Sadly, due to his illness, he was unable to make that trip. One of Doug’s greatest joys in life was making his wife and daughters happy—often seen in their cherished family trips to Disney World, a place he loved because it brought joy to the people he loved most.
To honor Doug’s memory and support his family during this incredibly difficult time, we are organizing a fundraising effort. All contributions will go directly to Raquel, Vanessa, and Gabriela to help with medical expenses and ease the financial burden during this period of mourning.
Doug’s kindness, strength, and dedication will not be forgotten. Please join us in honoring his life and showing support for the family he held so dear.
